Kelvin Fletcher was dealt some bad news during Fletcher's Family Farm.14:32, 02 Jun 2026Kelvin and Liz Fletcher were dealt a devastating setback during an episode of Fletcher's Family Farm.During the repeat episode, which aired on Monday night, Kelvin wanted to see how much the Fletcher pigs would fetch at auction, and the news was disappointing. He said in the intro, "It is not all good news, our pigs failed to make a good price at market, putting their future on our farm at risk. This wasn't the only blow the couple faced, as Kelvin also had to make the tough decision to put one of their newborn lambs to sleep. As the former Emmerdale star got the pigs ready, he reflected, "Raising our pigs well has always been our priority. But, selling our pigs to make sausage rolls for events doesn't cover the cost of rearing them. So today, we are off to market."He went on, "This batch of pigs are not quite finished, and I wanted to gauge what it is like to take them to market. Is it worth finishing them myself? We will see."When arriving at the auction, Kelvin was pleased to see that his pigs were gaining some interest from other farmers. But things took an unexpected turn when the auction began."These pigs probably cost us £150 per head, that is not labour, that is just feed costs," he said to the camera. However, the auction drew in a smaller crowd than expected, but Kelvin noted that for pig farmers, "times have been hard".When it came to Kelvin's turn, he said, "It's all over within minutes."It is a bit bleak. With two sold for £70 each, and the others even less, we have made a staggering loss of around £80 per pig.""I can't help but feel a bit dejected," Kelvin said, airing his disappointment."It is such a shame, and it's not just ours; collectively, the price that they all go for is just so low, and you think to yourself, 'How is anyone making any money like this?'"Today has been a real eye-opener, and breaking the news to Liz won't be any easier."Despite the setback, Kelvin remained positive, stating, "I am not giving up hope."As he arrived back at the farm, Kelvin was forced to break "the bad news to Liz". When asked whether they could now go on holiday because the pigs had been sold, Kelvin looked deflated as he said, "We're not, no."Article continues below"That doesn't even cover the food bill," Liz replied after Kelvin explained how much the pigs had sold for. "We can't take the rest of them to market, it is a pointless waste of time."Fletcher's Family Farm airs at 7.30pm on ITV.
