The patriarch Martin Worrall, played by Denis Lawson, is head of a family which is bound in past secrets."As Amanda is drawn further and further into past events and relationships, all of their lives are turned upside down."With the new series kicking off tonight (June 2) we take a look at the actress’ life outside the Channel 5 show.‌Hidden talentAlthough the 34-year-old is primarily an actress, she’s showcased her other talents in the past by releasing a folk-inspired covers album with her brother Ross.‌The album Tales From Home, which was arranged by composer Anne Dudley, was released in 2018 and features songs such as I Can't Make You Love Me, Hushabye Mountain and The Spinning Wheel.Despite saying she didn’t see the album as a step into a singing career, the actress told Wonderland Magazine that Tales From Home was a result of Poldark fans who saw her sing in the period drama. When asked if she ever expect to receive so much love when starring as Demelza in the BBC series, she said: “No not at all, I’ve been blown away by it. It’s been incredibly supported and it’s been wonderful to have had that from people.‌“I couldn’t have done something like create an album if people hadn’t suggested it to me or pushed me to do it.”Famous parentsIt looks as though acting runs in the Tomlinson family, as Eleanor's parents have both starred in a plethora of well-known shows and films. Her mother, Judith Hibbert, who is also a singer, has been in the children’s programme Rainbow and played Chantelle in the 1980s show The New Statesman.‌Meanwhile, her father Malcolm Tomlinson has featured in the likes of Peaky Blinders, Emmerdale, Henry VIII and His Six Wives and Casualty. He’s also a British horse-racing commentator and has worked with Sky Sports, ITV, and BBC Radio. It was while watching her dad on set of The Bill that Eleanor decided she wanted to follow in his footsteps. Speaking to The Mirror, Malcolm explained: “E came with me to the set of The Bill because I couldn’t get someone to look after her. I said, ‘I hope you don’t mind I have to bring my daughter with me’.“When we were on the way home, Eleanor said ‘Daddy, I think I would like to do some acting’.”‌Being bulliedAs Eleanor has been acting from a young age, she had to balance school life with her career, which resulted in some less than friendly behaviour from her peers.‌Speaking to the Mail on Sunday's You magazine, she commented: “I was accused of being too posh because during stints away from home any trace of a Yorkshire accent would fade away."The bullying would take the weirdest forms. For example, people would come up to me and shout the name of the project I happened to have been working on and then just walk away."It's incredible how horrible girls can be. It was psychological warfare and it was really hard to cope with."Article continues belowIn the end, she dropped out of sixth-form to concentrate on her acting career as she was getting behind on her school work. The Fortune airs Tuesday June 2 on Channel 5 from 9pm.
