Lyuben Dilov Jr., a writer, journalist, screenwriter, and Member of Parliament, has died, according to an announcement made by GERB leader Boyko Borissov on social media.
Borissov confirmed the news in a Facebook post, expressing personal grief and offering condolences to Dilov’s family, friends, and supporters. He described him as a close associate and a distinctive public figure.
“Farewell, Lyubo Dilov! I have lost a friend, a bright personality, a talented writer and a man with an exceptional sense of humor and civic position,” Borisov wrote.
In recent months, Dilov had been absent from public life due to serious health complications. He reportedly suffered a heart attack in the spring and had been receiving medical treatment, including hospitalization abroad.
Dilov Jr. was widely known as one of the key figures behind some of Bulgaria’s most recognizable television productions, including “Ku-ku,” “Kanaleto,” “Hushove,” and “Slavi’s Show,” which shaped the country’s post-transition media landscape.
