Pop star Delta Goodrem, who recently competed on Eurovision with the song Eclipse, has addressed the rumours that she could about to hit the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom09:41, 02 Jun 2026Delta Goodrem has admitted she is "open" to the idea of Strictly Come Dancing. The pop star, 41, recently represented her home country of Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest with the track Eclipse, which ultimately placed fourth with 287 points and will make up part of her upcoming studio album Pure.‌Delta shot to fame when she starred as aspiring singer Nina Tucker on Neighbours and then went onto a major pop career with hits such as Innocent Eyes and Born To Try, and, along with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Holly Valance and Natalie Imbruglia, is part of a cohort of stars who started out on the Australian soap before going onto conquer the music industry.‌Now, Delta is thought to be one of the famous faces gearing up to appear on the next series of the BBC Saturday night favourite, which kicks off in September.‌During an appearance on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain alongside Ed Balls, Susanna Reid and showbiz guru Richard Arnold, she said: "Every time I've ever been in the UK and I get immersed into it. I love music with all my heart but as I said before Eurovision, I'm always open. However, while she did not confirm nor deny the rumours, she did admit that hitting the dancefloor would require a lot of effort on her part because she is musically inclined elsewhere.‌She added: "I love the variety of the arts, I'm always open. I'd have to work really hard because I'm a piano girl at the end of the day."Delta then jokingly took dancing tips from Ed, who competed on the show on 2012, and quipped that she wouldn't hesitate to call either him or last year's contestant Richard should she end up taking part herself.Last month, insiders claimed that the star was edging ever closer to signing on the dotted line. A source told the Daily Mail : "It is all but a done deal. They've been trying to get her for years. Obviously, she is a good name for the show."‌Just days ago, it was reported that EastEnders icon Lacey Turner, who first appeared as Stacey Slater on the BBC soap more than two decades ago, could also be about to join Strictly.A source said: "Strictly bosses are delighted to snap Lacey up for the series, especially as she has such a huge fan base from her time on the soap. She’s down to earth and viewers will be excited to get to know her personality away from Albert Square.”‌Speaking to The Sun, the insider added: "She has loved having some quality time off screen to focus on parenting, but feels like now is the perfect time to learn to dance and try something different before she reprises her role in EastEnders."Other stars rumoured to be vying for the glitterball trophy include Love Island winner Dani Dyer, who last year was replaced by West End star and fellow Love Island winner Amber Davies after sustaining an injury in rehearsals, as well as This Morning presenter Josie Gibson. The upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing is due to kick off in September, and will mark the first season for new hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe. The trio were announced as the new presenters earlier this month after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman confirmed they would be stepping back.Article continues belowLike this story?
