EcoSolar Energy Corporation, a unit of Yuchengco-led PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC), on Tuesday announced it secured an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region 6 for its 98.20 megawatt-direct current (MWDC) Panitan Solar Power Project (PSPP) in Panitan town, Capiz. The 98.20 MWDC PSPP, a winning bidder under the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Green Energy Auction Program 4 (GEA-4), is a ground-mounted solar development. The PSPP is targeted for operation on or before the end of 2028, according to EcoSolar. The project is subject to remaining pre-development activities such as the subsequent construction and the upgrade of the 138-kilovolt (kV) Panitan substation by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).The company said the PSPP is also expected to deliver socio-economic benefits to Capiz, including job creation during construction, local procurement opportunities, and support for community development initiatives. —Ted Cordero/RF, GMA News
