Russia launched one of the largest combined aerial assaults of the war overnight, targeting Kyiv and multiple regions across Ukraine with hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles. The attack left at least 11 people dead and more than 100 injured nationwide, while causing widespread destruction in residential neighborhoods, public buildings, and critical infrastructure.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russian forces fired a total of 729 aerial weapons, including 73 missiles and 656 drones. The arsenal included ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, Zircon hypersonic missiles, Kalibr sea-launched missiles, and large numbers of Shahed attack drones and decoys. Air defense units reported intercepting or suppressing 642 targets, including 40 missiles and 602 drones. Despite those efforts, 30 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles, and dozens of drones reached their targets, striking 38 locations across the country.

Kyiv endured some of the heaviest damage. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said four people were killed and dozens injured, including children. Rescue teams spent hours searching through the wreckage of residential buildings after a missile strike caused part of a nine-story apartment block in the Podilskyi district to collapse. Authorities warned that additional victims could still be trapped beneath the rubble.
