It was a proud moment for one of Samoa's biggest exporters, Fero Samoa Ltd, as they hosted the Tongan Prime Minister, Lord Fatafehi Fakafanua, on Tuesday.

Lord Fatafehi becomes the second Pacific leader, after New Zealand's Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, to visit the facilities.

Director of Fero Samoa, Sam Fulton, said the visit was about highlighting what can be achieved by such industries and creating employment across the region.

“It's just really about helping to demonstrate what can be achieved in, you know, manufacturing and creating jobs and industries in the islands,” he said.

The welcoming ceremony started with songs by the employees of Fero Samoa, an opening speech by Fulton, and then followed by a few words from the Tongan Prime Minister addressing plans to restore relationships with Samoa and the rest of the Pacific Island nations.
