TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned on Monday, June 1, 2026, that talks with the United States (US) could be halted if Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue, according to a statement by Ghalibaf carried by Iran's Fars News Agency, as quoted by Anadolu Agency.Ghalibaf made the remarks during a phone call with Lebanese Parliament Speaker and Amal Movement leader Nabih Berri, the news agency reported.According to Fars, Ghalibaf said Iran has made serious efforts over the past two days to stop Israeli attacks. He warned that if these "crimes" continue, Tehran will not only suspend the negotiation process but also "oppose" Israel.He also said that any agreement reached between Tehran and Washington would require a halt to attacks on all fronts, especially in Lebanon.Ghalibaf added that Iran is determined to secure a ceasefire throughout Lebanon, particularly in the south of the country.The Iranian parliament speaker also described the relationship between Iran and Lebanon as "inseparable." Ghalibaf praised Hezbollah and the Amal Movement for what he described as their defense of Lebanon and the broader Muslim community.Meanwhile, Berri told Ghalibaf that Lebanon would “never forget” Iran’s positive stance during this sensitive period, according to Fars.Israel continues its attacks on Lebanon despite a ceasefire that went into effect on April 17.
