Tehran, June 1 (EFE).- Iran has suspended peace negotiations with the United States in response to continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, as Tehran insists that the ceasefire agreement with Washington extends to all regional fronts, including Lebanon. “The Iranian negotiating team is suspending talks and the exchange of messages with the United States through a mediator because the Zionist regime continues to commit crimes in Lebanon,” the agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported. Tasnim added that there would be no further dialogue “until hostilities in Lebanon come to an end.” Iranian officials have repeatedly insisted that the ceasefire in force with the US since Apr. 8 extends to Lebanon, where Israel has continued military operations. Earlier Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced strikes on Beirut. “A ceasefire between Iran and the United States constitutes, without any ambiguity, a comprehensive ceasefire across all fronts, including Lebanon,” Araghchi wrote on X. The Iranian foreign minister argued that a violation of the ceasefire established on April 8 in any theater amounts to a breach of the agreement as a whole. “The United States and Israel bear responsibility for the consequences of any breach of the truce,” he added. Earlier, Parliament Speaker and Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf, warned that the United States and Israel would pay a price for what Tehran considers a breach of the truce in Lebanon. “Every decision has a price, and the time comes to pay the bill,” he wrote on X. The latest tensions come as Tehran and Washington continue efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict. Reports late last week indicated that Iran and the United States had reached a preliminary agreement, pending approval by US President Donald Trump. However, US media later reported that Trump had sought amendments to several provisions of the draft accord. Amid the ongoing negotiations, Iran and the United States exchanged attacks again overnight. According to Iranian accounts, US forces bombed Goruk and Qeshm Island, while Iran responded by targeting the base from which the attack was allegedly launched. EFE jlr-sk
