Two Iranian documentaries won major awards at the 38th International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), which held its awards ceremony on Thursday night.

Mehrdad Oskouei’s A Fox Under a Pink Moon won Best Film in the International Competition section, receiving a €15,000 ($17,260) cash prize.

Past Future Continuous, directed by Firouzeh Khosravani and Morteza Ahmadvand, won Best Film in the Envision section, also with a €15,000 prize.

A Fox Under a Pink Moon is a co-production between Iran, France, Britain, the United States, and Denmark.

The film follows Soraya, a 16-year-old Afghan teenager living in Iran who spends five years trying to reunite with her mother in Europe.
