RULAAC's reaction followed reports that Ndibe was detained by DSS operatives upon his arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos State, on Monday.
The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has condemned the detention of renowned Nigerian writer, academic and public intellectual, Professor Okey Ndibe, by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), calling on security agencies to respect citizens' constitutional rights.
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its Executive Director, Okechukwu Nwanguma, the rights group described the reported detention as disturbing and raised concerns over what it called the recurring harassment of citizens based on the exercise of their constitutionally protected freedoms.
RULAAC's reaction followed reports that Ndibe was detained by DSS operatives upon his arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos State, on Monday.
SaharaReporters had earlier reported that operatives of Nigeria's Department of State Services (DSS) arrested and detained the celebrated writer shortly after he arrived from the United States.
