Masoud Shamsibakhsh, Deputy Minister of Science, announced that education for master’s and doctoral students at most of the country’s universities will continue online, while final exams for these postgraduate students will be held in person, except at a few universities in southern Iran.
In an interview with the ISNA news agency, he stated that, currently, all universities except certain higher education institutions in the south of the country, including Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, Persian Gulf University, and the University of Bandar Abbas, are conducting postgraduate classes online due to hot weather conditions and “certain security considerations.”
The Deputy Minister of Science also addressed the situation of undergraduate students, noting that they will continue with online learning for the remainder of the current semester, and that no in-person classes will be held for them.
Shamsibakhsh added that, based on the decisions made, final exams for undergraduate students at universities under the Ministry of Science will also be held online “until further notice.” The remarks by the Ministry of Science official come as, over recent weeks, many of the country’s universities have moved their educational activities to digital platforms amid ongoing security and military tensions in Iran.
