The Annamayya district administration has intensified the enforcement of traffic regulations at Horsley Hills following an increase in incidents of rash driving on the ghat road and growing concerns about the safety of tourists.District Collector Nishant Kumar on Monday warned that strict action would be taken against motorists who violate traffic rules on the ghat road. He said that there were growing concerns following repeated incidents of youth speeding on motorcycles, riding in triples and quadruples, travelling without helmets, and using modified silencers that create excessive noise pollution and inconvenience to tourists. The Collector said that the administration would continue conducting surprise inspections and special drives to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations in the Horsley Hills zone. He highlighted that the safety of tourists and other motorists remained top priority for the administration.Appealing to tourists to act responsibly, Mr. Nishant Kumar said adherence to traffic rules was not merely a legal requirement but a matter of public safety. “Following traffic rules is a responsibility and violating them is a risk. Reckless driving on the ghat road will not be tolerated,” he said.Following directions from the Collector, the police officials carried out inspections along key stretches leading to the hilltop. Within just two hours, traffic violators were slapped with fines amounting to ₹52,000. The police registered cases against 13 vehicles and seized several others for serious violations.Officials said offences detected during the drive included helmetless riding, triple riding, use of unauthorised modified silencers, driving without a valid licence, and operating vehicles without mandatory documents such as registration certificates and insurance papers.
