A school student, who recently completed the class 10 board examinations, submitted a petition demanding to resume the agriculture stream in his school, at the weekly grievance meeting here on Monday. The student, who had completed his class 10 in Government Higher Secondary School in M. Kallupatti, while trying to choose the agriculture stream in class 11, was refused admission citing the discontinuation of the stream, owing to absence of teachers.“The course was taught in the school until last year. But this year, all of a sudden, without even any prior notice, the course was cancelled,” he alleged. Many students like us are eager to study agriculture-related courses, which provide the highest employment opportunities at the national level in India, and to join jobs related to it, he added.Based on that, we were in great anticipation this time to select agriculture-related studies from the class 11.“Since that course stream has now been removed, the employment opportunities and future of students like us have become a question mark,” he stated.
