Ask any Indian about their favourite snack staple and chances are they will all pick Maggi noodles in unison. Quick and easy to make, Maggi has been a part of Indian households for decades. Be it midnight cravings, surviving bland food in hostels, or simply wanting something comforting, Maggi always reigns supreme. But even this humble dish has been subjected to multiple food experiments that often divided the internet. Back in April, Dutch influencer Ivana Perkovic, living in Mumbai, posted a video on Instagram, sharing one such Maggi experiment. But surprisingly, many social media users approved her variation.Dutch influencer’s milk-based Maggi recipeThe clip opened to Ivana Perkovic explaining that an Indian taught her an unconventional way to prepare Maggi. According to the digital creator, the one-ingredient tweak to the traditional process seemed ‘illegal’ but turned out to be the ‘biggest food hack’ she had ever learned. Time for the truth: Ivana cooked Maggi, not by boiling water but milk. Yes, you read that right.Perhaps the simplest way to make Maggi is to break the packet, pour its contents into a pan of boiling water, and stir occasionally before adding the spicy masala provided within the packet. One can also add vegetables or cheese slices as per their preference before serving it piping hot in a bowl. But what Ivana Perkovic did was take a larger quantity of milk instead of water and boil the Maggi noodles, before following the rest of the steps as mentioned above. Internet reacts to special Maggi preparationAs per the digital creator, the milk-based Maggi is ‘special’ because the milk enhances the flavour of the spices and gives the noodles a yummy cheese-like taste. The thickened, white and subtly soupy base created a flavourful and ‘addictive’ punch, admits Ivana Perkovic. In conclusion, she stated, ‘I do not care if this is illegal; it is hands down the biggest food hack I have learned in my life.’The internet was quick to react. ‘I eat Maggi only like this ever since I tried this and loved it,’ admitted a user. ‘It tastes like cheese Maggi,’ admitted another. ‘I make it the normal way and then just add a little milk in the end for the cheesy flavour,’ agreed someone else. ‘Next, we try Maggi in chai,’ joked one person. So far, the video has clocked over 2.2 million views. Would you also like to try it?
