According to the company, the transformers are amongst the largest ever to be deployed at a European data center, and represent a key moment in the campus's development, becoming the first campus to connect at 380kV.
The transformers will support power delivery at the campus, which is expected to have an initial capacity of 300MW and scale over time. Power will be delivered to the data center via a 500MW substation, with dual direct connections to the 50Hertz 380kV transmission network. Virtus claims that the high-voltage connections will support a highly stable and resilient power architecture.
Virtus has said that the site will operate on 100 percent renewable energy and will be closely integrated with regional renewable energy sources, including substantial onshore wind capacity.
