The Mulwala Solar Farm, located in Riverina, is tied to a long-term corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) originally signed in 2023. The project will deliver power to Australia’s National Electricity Market, with the environmental credits generated by the solar farm supplied to the two data center operators. The project is being developed by the Australian renewable firm, European Energy Australia.

“Australia has ambitious energy goals, and we want to ensure the growth of the nation’s digital economy directly accelerates the transition to a cleaner grid,” said Bikash Koley, vice president, global infrastructure, Google. “As part of Google’s Digital Future Initiative in Australia, Mulwala Solar Farm is an example of how AI and digital infrastructure can be built the right way, with clear community benefits. By partnering with the right local and international experts, we’re proving that the technology of tomorrow can be powered responsibly today.”

According to Google, the plant is expected to support its 24/7 matching goal, which aims to ensure all of its data center operations are powered via clean energy around the clock.
