The fight against the dangerous viral hemorrhagic fever disease Ebola is gaining ground as recoveries in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), one of the disease’s epicenters, reached 5.

The World Health Organization (WHO) commended the advancements achieved in mitigating the transmission of the virus on Sunday, announcing the discharge of four nurses following successful treatment for Ebola.

The global health group also encouraged that more recoveries are expected, especially for patients who discover the sickness earlier.

Prior to the nurses' recovery, a laboratory professional had also recovered from the disease.

According to statistics released by the communications ministry of the DRC, as seen on Reuters, the number of confirmed Ebola cases in the nation has risen to 282, with 42 fatalities, following the recording of 19 additional positive test results.
