Thick smoke billows from the Hyundai Mobis factory where a fire broke out on Sunday

Hyundai Motor India Limited has informed the National Stock Exchange (NSE) that there would be a temporary disruption in production at its plant near Chennai owing to a fire that broke out on Sunday (May 31, 2026).The company on Monday (June 1) said: “A fire incident occurred at one of the manufacturing facilities of our supplier Mobis India Limited at Irrungattukottai, Kancheepuram, in the late afternoon of May 31, 2026. No fatality has been reported. The above facility of Mobis supplies audio components and few other automotive parts to the company.”“The company and Mobis teams are working closely to assess the situation and extent of damage to Mobis facility. This incident will result in temporary disruption to company’s production,” Hyundai said.“However, alternative sourcing and supply continuity measures are being actively explored to minimise the operational impact.
