SAN FRANCISCO, AGUSAN DEL SUR, Philippines — A rare and breathtaking natural spectacle has been unfolding at the Mt. Magdiwata Forest Reserve here, where vast stretches of forest canopy resembling giant cauliflowers can be seen from afar.
Local experts described the sight as a landmark sign of the mountain’s ecological recovery.
From a distance, the flowering treetops resemble giant clusters of cauliflower blanketing the mountain slopes—an extraordinary synchronized blooming event known as “masting” that has awed environmentalists, scientists and local residents.
