MANILA, Philippines – Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro on Monday said the House prosecution panel will oppose any effort from Vice President Sara Duterte and her camp to dismiss the impeachment charges against her, as the deadline for her formal response to the accusations loomed.
In a media briefing, Luistro said the 11-member prosecution panel is prepared to object to such a response to discard the articles of impeachment that were elevated to the Senate by the lower chamber, which has kick-started proceedings against her.
“We will oppose that,” she said in Filipino. “The Senate rules on impeachment do not speak about dismissal.”
