Chittoor district police conducted a massive cordon-and-search operation on Sunday across 25 locations, screening over 100 individuals and identifying four persons who tested positive for narcotic substance consumption.District Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Dudi and SP (Operations) S.R. Rajasekhar Raju supervised the search operation, focusing on the residences of rowdy sheeters, former ganja offenders, and other suspected individuals as part of an intensified campaign against drugs and anti-social activities.Using advanced drug detection kits, officials tested 110 persons during the operation. Four individuals from Puthalapattu, Gangavaram, Vijayapuram, and Palasamudram police station limits were found to have consumed narcotic substances. Police said the individuals were counselled and educated about the severe health and social consequences of drug abuse.In another incident, police seized gunpowder and raw materials allegedly used in the manufacture of explosive substances from ST Colony in Gundlapalli village of Irala mandal. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.Speaking to the media, Mr. Tushar Dudi said the police department was committed to eliminating the illegal trafficking, sale, and consumption of drugs in the district. He revealed that police had seized 15 kg of ganja from different locations and booked five accused in the past week.
