A statement issued on Sunday and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer DCP Anthony Okon Placid, stated that Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the mass promotion.
The Nigeria Police Force has officially announced the promotion of 17,952 junior police officers across various ranks in the Force as part of efforts to improve welfare, boost morale, and reward diligence and professionalism.

SaharaReporters earlier exclusively reported that the IGP had approved the promotion of no fewer than 17,951 junior police officers across various commands and formations of the Force.
The promotion exercise, contained in an internal wireless signal dated May 20, 2026 and obtained by SaharaReporters, revealed that 17,714 Constables were promoted to the rank of Corporal with effect from May 13, 2026.
