A picture shows a large great white shark following a Bluff-based shark diving boat, but it was the not the largest shark recorded by Shark Experience this season.
That title goes to a 5.8m beast, dubbed “Big Gal”, which is even comparable to the 7.6m mechanical shark used in the original Jaws movie.
As for the shark down south, “she is an exceptional girl,” Nikki Ladd, of Shark Experience said. “She would be 60+ in age.”
The 2025/26 season was about to draw to a close, Ladd said. “We are just approaching our last days ... we have great sharks, we are just running out of humans,” she said.
There had been a noticeable downturn this year due to the fuel crisis caused by the war in Iran.
