A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after allegedly fleeing police and crashing into a member of the public in Auckland.

Police said the motorcyclist was seen by officers “travelling at speed and undertaking dangerous manoeuvres” on Highbrook Drive about 12.20pm on Sunday.

“Police attempted to signal the motorcycle to stop, and moments later it was involved in a crash with a member of the public,” a police spokesperson said.

“The rider sustained serious injuries and has been transported to hospital.”
