A stakeholder consultation on ‘Unmasking the Appeal – Countering Nicotine and Tobacco Addiction’ was organised by Mary Anne Charity Trust (MACT) in Chennai on Saturday to mark World No Tobacco Day.K. Krishnaraj, Joint Director – Non-Communicable Diseases, Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, distributed Tobacco Monitor Field Investigator identification cards to participants who completed MACT’s Leadership Program on Tobacco Control.A press release said the initiative aims to strengthen community participation in supporting the implementation of the National Tobacco Control Programme by creating a network of volunteers who would identify violations of tobacco control laws.Mr. Krishnaraj said the identification card was not merely a credential but a symbol of responsibility and called upon field investigators to serve as vigilant community leaders in the fight against tobacco and nicotine addiction.Speakers at the consultation included S.
