A former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi; former Kano State Governor, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso; and the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Senator Seriake Dickson, have arrived at the party’s special convention in Abuja, where delegates are expected to formally adopt its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The convention, being held on Saturday at the party’s convention ground in the Idu area of the Federal Capital Territory, has attracted top political figures, party leaders and supporters from across the country.
Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate and one of the party’s most influential figures, arrived to a rousing welcome from supporters under the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
Dressed in a flowing white babanriga and his trademark red-and-white cap, the former Kano governor was cheered by loyalists as he made his way into the venue.
