The national leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress has debunked conflicting lists of purported winners of its primary elections in Enugu State circulating on social media, describing them as unauthorised rumours.
The party instead confirmed the successful and peaceful conduct of its primary elections across the state for all elective positions, including the presidency, governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly.
Speaking with journalists in Enugu on Saturday, the National Secretary of the NDC, Mr Ikenna Morgan, stated that the internal election, which took place on Friday, May 29, 2026, was conducted through direct primaries, allowing all eligible party members to vote for their preferred candidates.
Morgan explained that the exercise complied strictly with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution, adding that it was fully supervised by the party’s National Electoral Committee from Abuja and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
He said, “The Nigeria Democratic Congress successfully conducted its primary elections in Enugu State on Friday, May 29, 2026. The process was monitored by our National Electoral Committee and observed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
