Saturday, 30 May 2026 7:08 PM MYT KOTA BHARU, May 30 — A 21-year-old local man and nine Bangladeshi immigrants were detained after the car they were travelling in skidded off the road before crashing into a vehicle and a house in Kampung Tok Malik, Wakaf Bharu, Tumpat, today.General Operations Force (GOF) Southeast Brigade Commander, SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain said the incident, which occurred at about 7 am, took place when a team from the GOF 7th Battalion Task Force was conducting an Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan patrol in the area.He said the team spotted a suspicious yellow Perodua Myvi and attempted to stop it for inspection, but the driver sped off.“The suspect lost control of the vehicle before it skidded and crashed into a resident’s car and part of a house in Kampung Tok Malik. Checks found that the vehicle was driven by a local man believed to be acting as a land transporter and was carrying nine Bangladeshi immigrants,” he said when contacted today.According to him, the suspect was detained at the scene, while all the immigrants were also arrested for further action and documentation procedures at the Pengkalan Kubor GOF Tactical Headquarters.“Initial checks found that the individuals, aged between 20 and 55, failed to produce valid travel documents. Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver admitted receiving RM100 for each immigrant picked up at the Malaysia-Thailand border to be transported to Kota Bharu,” he said.He added that the case is being investigated under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. — Bernama
