Chinese automaker Jetour is targeting South Africa's growing appetite for adventure vehicles with the T2, a ruggedly styled SUV that offers impressive off-road capability, premium features and all-wheel-drive performance at a fraction of the price of established rivals.

The Jetour T2 is South Africa’s 2026 Car of the Year. This is the first time that a Chinese vehicle has won the prestigious competition, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

The Jetour T2 range starts at R569,900 for the front-wheel-drive 1.5T Aspire. The all-wheel-drive 2.0T Xplora is priced at R639,900, while the flagship 2.0T Odyssey retails for R679,900.

While not a hardcore off-roader, the T2 offers stronger off-road credentials than a typical SUV. The all-wheel-drive models are equipped with an electronic limited-slip differential on the rear axle, a multi-mode terrain management system and Crawl Control Mode for low-speed off-road driving.

Although it may not match the capabilities of dedicated off-roaders such as the Prado or Suzuki Jimny, the T2 performs well on sand, gravel roads and moderate trails.
