At least, 16 residents in Kiliya community are feared dead, while many others were declared missing, following an attack by bandits in the area near Bagagadi in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.
A resident of the area told newsmen that the attack occurred on Friday shortly after residents had concluded Juma’at prayers and were relaxing, holding discussion in the spirit of the Sallah celebrations.
The source explained that he first saw two bandits riding on a motorcycle.
According to him, villagers began running upon sighting them, but the attackers ordered them to stop. He said the bandits later went to a mechanic’s house and suddenly opened fire on residents and other passersby.
