Sir, – I was reading Finn McRedmond’s article about Arsenal and Irish diaspora. In it she mentions she had yet to meet a Tottenham fan. Shock and horror. (“Arsenal have become the club of the Irish diaspora,” May 28th). Since 1961 I have supported Spurs and it’s been a roller coaster relationship but always based on love. We have a Spurs supporters app with more than 60 ardent fans connected by my son and I over the years.Don’t forget Irish players such as Pat Jennings, Danny Blanchflower, Robbie Keane and Stephen Carr who represented our club very well. The Spurs community is alive and well despite the ferocious scare we experienced at the end of this latest season.Congratulations to Arsenal who didn’t concede a penalty or had no red cards despite the litany of “Stoke City”-type games and the physical battering of opposition goalkeepers. Enjoy it, though. – Yours, etc,DAVID BUNWORTH,Stillorgan,Dublin.Sir, – I think Finn Mc Redmond slightly overeggs (with avocado) the Irish diaspora support for Arsenal, which seems to be the sign of a new “Cool Britannia” emerging. In almost every football club up and down England one will inevitably find a cluster of the Irish diaspora. As for not ever meeting an Irish Spurs fan, the Harringey Irish Centre before it sadly closed was a haunt for Irish Spurs fans.I suggest she goes further than the trendy hip parts of north London to locate them. – Yours, etc,MIKE MORAN, Clontarf,Dublin 3.
