Shirilla was convicted of four counts of murder, four counts of felonious assault, two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, one count of drug possession and one count of possessing criminal tools in August 2023.She was sentenced to life in prison with eligibility for parole after 15 years, USA Today reported. Her team has filed for an appeal of her conviction."I never told my side of the story," Shirilla said in the documentary. "I just want to say my truth ... I just know myself and I know I'm not a monster."If you've watched the doc, you may be thirsty for more information about the case. There are two other docuseries that cover it."Killer Cases," an A&E crime docuseres that is streaming on Hulu, Disney+ and Roku Channel, covers the crash and the case in Season 4, Episode 12. The episode includes some details not included in the Netflix documentary, including a recording between Shirilla and her mother, Natalie. Mackenzie speaks in a pig latin-like language to her mother asking her a question that police later translated to: "Can we tell the police I had a seizure, can we tell the police something like that?” In the Netflix documentary, her defense lawyers argued that Shirilla had passed out due to a chronic condition called POTS. She had not been formally diagnosed."Mean Girl Murders," which is streaming on HBO Max, also covers the case. The Season 2 episode — titled "Under the Influence" — features several of Shirilla's classmates who talk about her persona in high school and her desires to become an influencer. If you're into podcasts, Russo's older sister Christine has a podcast called "The Big Sister: Unhinged."“Since the documentary aired, our family has had to relive this tragedy publicly over and over again,” Christine Russo wrote on Change.org, in a petition calling for a modernization of laws so that violent offenders can no longer "turn tragedy into personal gain." “What hurts even more is seeing how modern social media culture allows violent offenders to gain attention, followers, donations, publicity, and influence from the crimes that destroyed families like mine.”"The Crash" is streaming on Netflix.‘Britain’s Got Talent’ Star Susan Boyle Teases Jaw-Dropping Makeover For New ProjectSusan Boyle seems ready to return to superstardom after posting two Instagram posts teasing a new project — and a whole new look."I’ve heard it’s Susan Boyling out there," Boyle wrote in an Instagram caption on Thursday. Sabrina Carpenter hosted the episode and appeared in the sketch. When her coworkers jump out to surprise Laura, she lets out a super-long, uncontrollable fart.Apparently, SNL boss Lorne Michaels notoriously doesn't like fart jokes. But in a new comedy roundtable interview on The Hollywood Reporter, Padilla explains exactly why she thought that sketch was a success."That sketch I used to do at the Groundlings," Padilla said. "I just love someone taking something small very seriously — that's comedy to me. And what is dumber than a fart? So if you have that contrast of someone who's very serious and they fart, it's not the fart itself.""So I think Lorne respects when something is just done well," she continued. "We're not just throwing farts in and he's like, 'Put it on television!' I think it's the fact that it was the behavior of the individual and how they handle it."Read more on Entertainment Weekly:'Obsession' Just Made Box-Office History"Obsession" was the No. 2 movie at the box office over the long weekend, grossing $24 million in its second weekend in theaters. The indie horror film accomplished a rare feat by pulling in those numbers: It's the first film in three years to gross more money in its second weekend. My shoulders were touching the side, and I couldn't move my arms, and then they would drill the lid on, and it would get dark," Elordi said of the moment. "It was really nice, actually. It was quite peaceful in there."But then, series creator Sam Levinson let a snake slither right on into the coffin. Yes, a real snake; the crew put a fake rattler on a boa constrictor."The snakes were rattling, which is really alarming when you're locked in a box," Elordi said. "He was, like, real cuddly, so he just saddled up next to me, and it was nice," Elordi continued. "But he was real sleepy. I had to kind of nudge him to get him to come up.""Euphoria" streams on HBO Max. We ate it up collectively,” he told HuffPost in between laughs. “It was actually [originally] more insane than it is in the film, and I kind of brought it down a little bit. But still, I think it does what it needs to do and it's both entertaining and shocking.” Last year, the Stanfields portrayed lovers in another film: "Die My Love," starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson. This is Stanfield’s second time working with Riley following 2018’s "Sorry to Bother You," and the 34-year-old actor still finds excitement in collaborating with Riley.“With Boots, it's always a great experience 'cause you know you're gonna heighten the contradictions, do something crazy and hopefully evoke thought in people,” he said. “I think the message here is we gotta do this together if we want to make change.”"I Love Boosters" is now playing in theaters.'I Love Boosters' Director Boots Riley On The Power Of Protest: 'We Are Powerless Until We Make Movement'Boots Riley is practicing what he preaches. In his buzzy film "I Love Boosters," in theaters Friday, the 55-year-old director is exploring the power of protest among the working class. When asked if today’s political climate influenced the film, Riley says it actually goes beyond the current moment.“It's what I've been talking about in my work for decades. It wasn't about a specific time,” he told HuffPost at the Los Angeles premiere for the film. Before his acclaimed work as a director, Riley has spent most of his life as a musician and activist in Oakland and the greater Bay Area, where he was raised. In "I Love Boosters," a title lifted from his band’s 2006 song of the same name, Riley cites that togetherness among the working class can create “strategic benefit.”“We are powerless until we make the movement that we need to make,” he asserts. “ And that movement that we need to make right now that can have some effect on power, that can actually cause things to change, is a mass militant radical labor movement, one that can use the withholding of labor as a tactic and strategy to affect capital and demand and hold up capital and demand changes.”"I Love Boosters" is now playing in theaters.'In The Grey' Star Credits Guy Ritchie For Writing A Female Lead Who Is 'The Smartest Person In The Room'There aren’t any grey areas in Eiza González’s most recent roles.Just five months into the year, the 36-year-old actor is racking up the credits with three films that have already been released: "Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice," "I Love Boosters" and "In the Grey."At the Los Angeles premiere for "Boosters," González detailed how empowered she felt by her "In the Grey" character Rachel Wild. In the film, she hires two extraction specialists (Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal) to recover a billion-dollar fortune that was stolen by a tyrannical dictator. “I have to give it to [Guy Ritchie]. He wrote a female character as the lead of the movie, whereas she's the smartest person in the room,” she told HuffPost. “And she’s not pretentious in any way. It feels like a real human being experiencing and trying really hard to get where she wants to be. She's devoid of shame and I respect that.”"In The Grey" is now playing in theaters.See All Updates
