A 28-year-old La Horquetta man died in a road traffic accident in Sangre Grande early Thursday morning after the car he was driving crashed into a ditch along Coronation Road.Police identified the deceased as Joel Wharwood, of George Goddard Lane, Phase Two, La Horquetta, Arima.According to reports, around 2 am, a woman went to the Sangre Grande Police Station and reported seeing what appeared to be a crashed vehicle in a ditch off Coronation Road.The woman told officers that while proceeding out of Coronation Road, she observed a silver Nissan Versa down the ditch and what appeared to be a lifeless body lying next to the vehicle.First responders arrived at the scene shortly after and found the vehicle approximately 30 feet down the ditch.Police also discovered Wharwood lying on his back near the vehicle with visible injuries. Officers confirmed he was the lone occupant of the car.
