Aisha Yesufu Drops Out Of FCT Senatorial Race After NDC Reportedly Picks Pam Without Primaries

Yesufu had declared interest in the FCT senatorial seat on the platform of the NDC for the 2027 general elections.

Human rights activist and politician, Aisha Yesufu, has pulled out of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial race under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), following the party’s decision not to conduct primaries for the seat.

Yesufu had declared interest in the FCT senatorial seat on the platform of the NDC for the 2027 general elections.

Yesufu, known for her activism and outspoken criticism of successive governments, had recently intensified political consultations and grassroots mobilisation across the six area councils of the FCT in pursuit of her senatorial ambition.

But in a statement, she shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Yesufu informed her supporters that the party has resolved not to hold primaries for the FCT Senate position, while proceeding with House of Representatives primaries.
