Its spin-off celebrity edition started in 2011 and so far several series have aired, with stars such as Gok Wan, Sally Phillips, Katherine Ryan and Lee Mack among those taking part in the contest over the years.Richard was also a host on the main version of the programme, but he stepped down from that in 2022.The announcement has got fans on social media talking, with one person asking on Reddit: "Can someone explain why this decision was made?‌"Thought it was a fairly cheap show production wise and rated well? Wonder if this is writing on the wall for the non celeb version as well.""Loved it when it debuted," said someone else. "But the questions and format have gotten worse."‌Another fan mused after hearing the news: "Could simply be Richard Osman's availability with his his new ITV show, podcast and career as a writer, he also quit House of Games.""I really don't like celebrity versions of quiz shows especially," another viewer posted on the platform. They explained: "I know they donate the money but they simply aren't 'in the game' as much as normal folk who have probably never won anything in their lives."Article continues belowPointless and Pointless Celebrities air on the BBC.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌PointlessBBC
