Twenty-two university professors, political activists, and civil society figures have issued a statement demanding the release of Mir-Hossein Mousavi, Zahra Rahnavard, and all political and civil prisoners in Iran, while expressing deep concern over the situation of the under-house-arrest leaders of the Green Movement.
The signatories of the statement declared that, based on "credible reports," the residence of Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard was damaged during recent attacks on the Pasteur area, and the two have since been transferred to an unknown location.
The statement notes that the continued lack of information regarding Mousavi and Rahnavard's whereabouts, kept from their family and relatives after 15 years of house arrest, has raised serious concerns about their physical well-being and safety. The authors of the statement emphasized that, given their advanced age and need for medical care, the two require regular access to healthcare services and communication with their family now more than ever.
The signatories also called for an end to the house arrest of Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard, as well as the release of all political and civil prisoners, urging the international community and human rights organizations to follow the situation of these detainees with greater sensitivity.
