BBC's Antiques Road Trip returned on Thursday for a celebrity special, with Richard Osman joining the experts14:13, 29 May 2026Antiques Road Trip returned on Thursday evening for a celebrity special starring Pointless presenter Richard Osman. The 55-year-old was joined by his wife Ingrid Oliver, 49. The competitive duo joined forces with experts Natasha Raskin Sharp and Raj Bisram to purchase various items and generate profit at auction. Each equipped with £400, they ventured out to some of Norfolk's finest antique shops to discover what treasures they could uncover. While browsing the first shop, Natasha persuaded Richard to purchase a particularly thick glass ashtray, which she suspected was likely used for cigars. As Natasha prepared to reveal her discovery, he quipped: "Have you got something cheap for me? You know I like cheap," reports the Express.Outlining her rationale, she informed him: "It's a lovely piece of art glass, I think it's Scandinavian, just from the look of it."The pair also acquired a trio of plates from the same establishment, which they negotiated down from £61 to £35, totalling £40.Throughout the episode, both teams purchased some peculiar items, with Ingrid becoming enamoured with a melancholy dog painting, and Richard securing a straw-filled, mohair cuddly toy fox terrier, which he named Iain.He also left one shopkeeper flustered while buying a William IV bucket rummer. Examining the piece, the owner remarked, "It's unusally large."Seizing the opportunity for a joke, Richard raised his hands and responded, "Well listen, people have looked at me and said that before." Catching his innuendo, the shopkeeper went slightly red and questioned the pair, "Am I blushing?"At the final auction, Ingrid seemed fairly assured about her £345 collection of paintings, pottery, a glass perfume bottle, and unusual shot set, though auctioneer Ben said that it leaned towards the "slightly awful" rather than kitsch. In contrast, Richard paid just £275 for six lots, comprising the ashtray, cuddly toy, glass, dispatch box, trio of plates and two compasses.Sadly, nearly all of Richard and Ingrid's items sold for less than their purchase price, but Richard's £5 glass cigar ashtray, which the auctioneer suggested was actually a teapot warmer, fetched over three times its cost at £18.Natasha declared, "I am delighted!" while Richard beamed with satisfaction, quipping that they made money despite being uncertain what the item truly was."Wow, trebled your money and more," said Raj, with Richard adding: "Trebled our money, even though we didn't know what it was!"Richard ultimately triumphed at the end of the programme with a final tally of £344.21, beating Ingrid's £251.80.Article continues belowAntiques Road Trip is available to stream on BBC iPlayer
