A 22-year-old youth was arrested by police for allegedly possessing 3,000 painkiller tablets intended for sale near Chikkaiah Government Arts and Science College on Thursday night.The accused was identified as A. Kalaichelvan of Muniyappan Kovil Street in Manickampalayam. The Erode North police received a tip-off that painkiller tablets were being sold in the area. A police team conducted a search near the college and noticed a youth behaving suspiciously.During interrogation, the police found that Kalaichelvan had allegedly stocked painkiller tablets for sale. The police seized 3,000 tablets, valued at around ₹1 lakh, and arrested him.Preliminary inquiry revealed that the tablets were procured through a courier service from Maharashtra.
