The body of an unidentified woman was found partially buried on an unused stretch of the Kumbakonam Bypass Road near Vadalur on Friday (May 29, 2026). The identity of the woman, estimated to be around 25 to 35 years of age, has not been established yet.Police said the woman’s body, with her mouth gagged, was found partially buried near a bridge on the new Kumbakonam Bypass Road. Locals noticed it after dogs dug up the mound and immediately alerted the Vadalur police.On being alerted, V.V. Sai Praneeth, Superintendent of Police of Villupuram district and in-charge of Cuddalore, visited the spot and conducted an investigation. Fingerprint experts also inspected the scene.Police said the body bore bite marks on one of the victim’s legs. It was retrieved and sent for post-mortem examination at the Cuddalore Government General Hospital. A case has been registered at the Vadalur police station.
