A private company hired by Toronto to provide security at shelters and on transit says the city should bear responsibility for the alleged maltreatment of its employees, who are suing the company over wages and working conditions.
In a crossclaim filed by One Community Solutions (OCS) earlier this month, its lawyers write, “To the extent that OCS is found to have fallen below any standard of care regarding workplace safety or statutory compliance, the city and TTC are liable for its failure to exercise adequate oversight, rectification and directions over a program it designed and funded.”
