Hashim noted that there were deliberate attempts to weaken opposition political parties and frustrate credible challengers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Former presidential candidate and chieftain of the Accord Party, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has accused powerful forces within the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of dragging Nigeria back to the dark political era of late military ruler, General Sani Abacha.
Hashim noted that there were deliberate attempts to weaken opposition political parties and frustrate credible challengers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former presidential candidate made this known in a statement issued in Kaduna ahead of the Accord Party presidential primary scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
According to him, influential political actors are working behind the scenes to destabilise opposition platforms in order to dominate the country’s political space ahead of the next election cycle.
