The Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Sokoto State Governor, Col. Ahmed Usman (retd.), has described the Eid-el-Kabir frontline visit by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, as a major morale booster for troops engaged in counter-banditry operations in the North-West.
Speaking in Sokoto on Thursday, the special adviser said the gesture by the Army leadership would inspire officers and soldiers of Operation Fansan Yamma to remain resolute in the ongoing fight against banditry and other criminal activities threatening communities in the region.
The COAS, represented by the Commander, Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Godwin Mutkut, visited troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State, where he celebrated Eid-el-Kabir with the soldiers and shared lunch with them.
Usman said the visit reflected the Nigerian Army’s commitment to the welfare and motivation of personnel serving in difficult operational environments.
