Friday, 29 May 2026 4:35 PM MYT TEMERLOH, May 29 — A private ambulance driver was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with the murder of a two-year-old boy.No plea was recorded from the accused, Muhammad Iqbal Fitri Mazlan, 29, as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.The charge was read out before Magistrate Anis Adlina Abu Johan.According to the charge sheet, the man is accused of murdering Mohamad Hayder Abdul Mukmin at a house in Taman Seberang Temerloh at about 9 am on May 11.The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, and whipping of not less than 12 strokes if the death sentence is not imposed.Deputy Public Prosecutor Adriana Azrin appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented.The court fixed Sept 1 for mention of the case, with no bail granted to the accused.The case was first classified as child abuse after the victim was taken to Temerloh Hospital unconscious on May 13.It was later reclassified under Section 302 of the Penal Code after autopsy results showed that the victim died from head injuries caused by blunt force trauma. — Bernama
