The directive was contained in a public notice dated May 20, 2026, issued by the embassy and addressed to Nigerians living in the Philippines and the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Manila, Philippines, has announced that Nigerians residing in the Philippines will no longer be attended to on consular matters without proof of registration with the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Philippines (NIDOPHIL).

The directive was contained in a public notice dated May 20, 2026, issued by the embassy and addressed to Nigerians living in the Philippines and the Kingdom of Cambodia.

According to the embassy, the decision followed concerns over the “very low number” of Nigerians captured in the official NIDOPHIL database.

“The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Manila, Philippines wishes to inform all Nigerian nationals residing in the Philippines that the Embassy has observed with dismay the very low number of Nigerians registered in the official Database of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Philippines (NIDOPHIL),” the statement read.
