A 35-year-old migrant labourer was allegedly beaten to death by a group of people in Ramarajan Kandigai on Friday (May 29, 2026).A senior police official from Tiruvallur district said the incident occurred when the man, identified as Prasangidas from Assam, went to the house of Ravi, 59, a construction worker in Ramarajan Kandigai village under the Vengal police station limits, asking for water.According to the police, Ravi had gone to work on Friday, leaving his daughter alone at home. When Prasangidas, who was allegedly in an inebriated state, approached the house and asked for water, the woman locked herself inside and alerted her father. Police said Prasangidas, who was carrying a small knife, repeatedly knocked on the door.Soon, Ravi returned to the house along with more than 20 people, who allegedly assaulted Prasangidas. He collapsed and died on the spot. After being alerted, the Vengal police sent the body to the Tiruvallur Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.During the investigation, police found that Prasangidas had been staying with friends in the Ammanambakkam area near Thamaraipakkam and had been searching for work.The Vengal police have arrested Ravi, along with Siva, 47, and Jayakumar, 35, and are working to identify the others involved in the attack.
