Turkish-linked vessels targeted in Black Sea drone attacks

A Vanuatu-flagged Turkish cargo ship sailing from Odesa to Türkiye was hit by a drone, Ukrainian authorities said, as a separate attack targeted three oil tankers off Türkiye’s Black Sea coast.

"The Russian Federation carried out a targeted attack on a Turkish vessel," the Ukrainian navy posted on Telegram on May 29, saying a fire had broken out and two crew members wounded on the vessel.

Initial assessments showed damage to parts of the ship, while emergency teams were sent to the area over the risk of fire.

In a separate incident on May 28, shipping company Tribeca said three tankers were targeted by drones off Sinop province on Türkiye’s northern Black Sea coast.
