The United States and Iran have reportedly reached a tentative agreement on a 60-day memorandum of understanding aimed at extending the current ceasefire and reopening negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear programme, according to a report by Axios on Thursday.
The report, cited by Al Jazeera, stated that the proposed deal is still awaiting final approval from former US President Donald Trump, who remains central to ongoing American diplomatic and military strategy in the Middle East.
Axios, quoting two unnamed US officials, said the agreement would temporarily halt further escalation between both countries while creating room for renewed talks over Iran’s nuclear activities and regional security issues.
