According to the President, Nigeria Tennis Federation, in 2016, he joined the All Progressives Congress with sincerity of purpose and a strong belief in the vision and future of the party, saying, over the last ten years, "I devoted myself wholeheartedly to building and strengthening the APC at all levels".
Ochei who confirmed his resignation in a letter titled "Letter Of Resignation" addressed to the APC Ward 4 chairman, Onicha-Olona, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, stated "I write to formally resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective immediately.
