Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya
The medical reports of a businessman from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who was suspected to have contracted the Ebola virus, have tested negative, Gujarat health minister Praful Pansheriya said on Friday. The businessman was admitted to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on Wednesday after health authorities suspected a possible Ebola infection. He was kept in isolation along with three others who had come in contact with him as a precautionary measure. Pansheriya said the test results had ruled out Ebola infection and urged people not to panic or spread rumours.“Citizens are requested not to harbor any kind of fear or panic and stay away from rumours, relying only on the official information provided by the health department,” the minister wrote on social media platform X. Health officials had initiated precautionary protocols given the patient’s travel history and symptoms associated with the viral disease. Authorities, however, said there is currently no cause for concern after the negative test results.Published on May 28, 2026
